Mother insists Lindsay Lohan is not leaving rehab

Lindsay Lohan's mother insists the troubled actress is not coming out of rehab, despite reports she is due to finish her treatment this weekend.

Dina Lohan, who has just visited Lindsay at the Cirque Lodge clinic in Utah, denied she'll be making a comeback to the Los Angeles scene.

In an email message to Access Hollywood, Dina wrote: "Not true, staying in Utah." Lindsay, who was yesterday spotted outside the facility smoking and listening to music, checked into the centre in early August following her arrest on July 24 after she crashed her car in Santa Monica. She was in possession of cocaine when she was taken into custody.

It marks her third stint in rehab this year after previous visits to the Wonderland and Promises facilities in Los Angeles.

Dina, Lindsay's siblings Cody and Ali and her formerly estranged father Michael have all visited the actress since she began her latest stint. Despite Lindsay's time at the facility, she has still managed to make headlines.

Her publicist this week denined allegations she was involved in the marriage breakdown of her fellow rehab patient Tony Allen and his wife Stephanie.

Her spokesperson told Us magazine: "Lindsay and Tony are friends and that's all. They are supporting one another through a similar experience. This is a friendship based on trust and mutual support and nothing else."

Why is Britney Spears wearing an engagement ring?

Troubled former pop star Britney Spears raised eyebrows yesterday when she stepped out wearing a large sparkling ring on her wedding finger.

But if there is a new man in the 25-year-old's life, he sure is keeping a low profile.

The mother of two, who was briefly linked to magician Criss Angel prior to her disastrous performance at the MTV Awards, made it a girls day out yesterday, visiting a Mexican restaurant with a female companion and later stopping in at a recording studio.
A night earlier she puzzled onlookers with an emergency midnight dash - to a tanning salon.

Controversy has engulfed Britney's personal and professional life in recent times.

Earlier this month, a LA judge presiding over her custody battle with ex husband Kevin Federline ruled that Britney is a "habitual, frequent and continuous" user of alcohol and controlled substances, demanding she take random twice-weekly testing.

Her former bodyguard Tony Barretto also spoke out about her behaviour, claiming he had twice seen her taking drugs while at LA nightclubs. He said: "She had me hold up a curtain, to make her area private."

Quizzed about the star, he said: "I have never seen her use drugs in the presence of her children. Alcohol? I don't know if 'abuse' is the correct language. I have seen her use alcohol."

Barretto, who says he is concerned about the safety of Britney's sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, concluded: "Britney doesn't listen to nobody. I mean, that's apparent."

Simon Cowell Defends Britney Spears

Britney Spears has one unlikely ally in her comeback struggle: Simon Cowell.

Mr. Nasty is telling “Extra” that he actually likes the troubled pop star – and that she might be making all the right moves!

“She’s all over the news, she gets more publicity that the entire Hot 100 combined, so maybe she’s doing everything right and everyone else is getting it wrong,” he confessed to “Extra.”

The “American Idol” judge also says folks should cut Britney some slack for what the pop star goes through.

He’s shrugging off her bizarre bathroom encounter with a paparazzo this week, in which she invited him inside, saying, “They follow her everywhere, so they might as well go into the loo with her.”

He admitted he’s standing up for Britney “a little bit,” adding, “I actually like her. I think she’s interesting.”

But there is one thing Simon would change for Britney.

About her single, “Gimme More,” Simon quipped, “Change the ‘more’ to ‘less.’”
