Britney Spears' jail date

Britney Spears yesterday went to a Los Angeles jail to be booked on a hit-and-run charge.

The singer, 25, was photographed and fingerprinted after hitting a parked car in August.

Britney, dressed in a black mini-skirt and leather jacket, had been ordered to report before October 25 when she is due to appear in court.

It relates to an incident when her black Mercedes convertible hit another car in a car park.

She was then photographed looking at the damage before walking off into a pharmacy.

The owner of the other car, nurse Kim Robard-Rifkin, filed a police report three days later.

The singer, who was not wearing a seatbelt and holding her Yorkie puppy London, was later charged with a hit-and-run offence and also driving without a Californian drivers' licence.

Both charges carry up to six months in jail. Later Britney said the police were "really nice".

Paris Hilton gives 'shy' beau the boot

Paris Hilton has reportedly called it quits with rumoured beau Swedish tourist Alex Vaggo because he is 'too shy'.

Hilton gave him the boot after Vaggo told her how he couldn't help getting enamoured by her.

A source said that the 26-year-old liked his looks, but he was too boring for her.

"She loved his good looks, but she gets bored very quickly, and he was just too shy and quiet for her. She likes bad boys,' the Sun quoted the source, as saying.

Hilton, who was seen partying with Kid Rock, said that she is single and 'too busy' for a boyfriend.

"I'm single. I'm way too busy for a boyfriend," she said

Britney, Lindsay have to deal with their problems themselves: Rihanna

Pop star Rihanna has held troubled stars Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan responsible for their current dilemmas.

The 'Umbrella' hitmaker told 'Cosmopolitan' that the stars were not tackling their personal problems well.

She also urged that no one could help the duo till they solved their problems by themselves.

"There's nothing I can say that'll change their minds about their lifestyles," Contactmusic quoted her, as telling.

"They have to make the change for themselves and I don't know if they want it bad enough," she said.

The R and B singer is currently getting set for the MTV Europe music awards where she is up for three gongs.

The 'Umbrella' star has been nominated for the 'Ultimate Urban', 'Most Addictive Track' and 'Solo Artist' prizes at the 2007 show, which is to be held in Germany in November.

Britney Spears booked in L.A. on driving charges

Britney Spears turned herself into a Los Angeles police station on Monday to be photographed and fingerprinted in connection with two minor traffic offenses.

The 26-year-old gum-chewing pop star, dressed in black miniskirt and leather jacket, spent about 30 minutes being processed after arriving at the station in the Los Angeles suburb of Van Nuys about 9 p.m. (midnight EDT).

The booking related to an August 6 incident when her car scuffed another car in a parking lot as Spears was being trailed by dozens of paparazzi. As they clicked away, she got out of the car, surveyed the damage and walked into an adjacent building.

As a result, she was later charged with one misdemeanor count each of hit-and-run and driving without a California drivers' license. She is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges October 25 in Van Nuys Superior Court.

Monday's booking was an oddly low-key affair for Spears, who can rarely go anywhere without being pursued by the paparazzi. As a handful of reporters looked on, she strode through the front entrance with a male companion after turning down a police offer to use a back entrance.

When she emerged, she told reporters that the police officers were "really nice." She then got into the front passenger seat of her companion's Mercedes and was driven off.

Lindsay desperate for parents to stop fighting

Actress Lindsay Lohan desperately wants her parents to end their ongoing public feuding.

Lindsay's parents Dina and Michael are presently involved in a bitter divorce battle.

However, the 'Mean Girls' star is expecting that her parents will patch up for the sake of her younger siblings Michael Jr, Dakota and Aliana.

"It saddens me. I wish it would stop. It hurts when two people you love argue with one another. I don't think any child wants to see their parents argue or see their family fall apart," Contactmusic quoted Lohan, as saying.

"Unfortunately it happens, and when it does they should do it with as little effect on their children as possible," she added.
